In Ayurveda, almonds (badam) are considered a brain tonic (improve memory!) and can strengthen, nourish, and calm the mind and nervous system. They are particularly nourishing for Vata dosha (Vatahara- Vata pacifying effect). Almonds have qualities of oily (snigdha) and heavy (guru) with sweet in taste (madhura), which are grounding and nourishing (rasayana, vrushya - rejuvinative effect), and great for the health of the eyes, skin, heart, brain, bones and nurtures all the seven tissues of the body, especially reproductive tissue (shukurala).
This homemade almond milk is an Ojas builder. Ojas is responsible for consciousness, purity in thoughts, health, positivity, immunity, longevity, intelligence and memory. Ojas is one of the most important elements to maintain and sustain life.
How to make: it takes less than 5-10 min to make!
1. 2/3 cup raw almonds, soaked overnight
2. Process the soaked almonds with 1 cup of water until smooth.
3. Add 2 cups of water, blend until smooth and foamy.
4. Strain the milk through a fine sieve and a cheesecloth.
You can use the leftover almond pulp to soup or baking. Enjoy your fresh glass of almond milk, which is very tasty. Your almond milk will last up to 5 days in the refrigerator.
